WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the item upgrades level by +3. A random additional substat is also added to every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They are purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using an button, which will show an image of the item level upgrade (visit) when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the item upgrading slot, and the current item upgrader mod level. For instance weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of obtaining a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item level will cost less, even in the event that they belong to a different gear set.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available when certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item upgrader mod level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.

The use of these currencies isn't too difficult, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to get their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
