WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item upgrade by 3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.

The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for the latter because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item upgrading level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be bought by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool with a button, which will display a preview of the item at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current item level. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Item upgraders can be found in many places on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader (mouse click the next document) available at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require a variety of means that are both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade items has been completed to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items are from a different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific upgrades to the level of an item. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the type or equipment being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult however, the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to get their gear up to the highest level possible on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance it's best to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, that will be able to avail the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with top-quality gear.
