WoW Upgrades - The item upgrading Upgrader

Upgrades give you boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item level upgrade that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. button, which will display an image of the item when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and current item level, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and an issue.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with several new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will cost less even if they are part of another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the kind of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrading upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item upgrading in the proper steps and routes.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one usage, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
