Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good robot vacuum deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and can work when you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and an automatic vacuum and mop bin for emptying. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a good job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings prior to work or at night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however, it will cost you more and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.

For larger houses, it's worth opting for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or voice controls. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or organize an automatic vacuum cleaner and mop spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean an area.

It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
