It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's a noisy unit which could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however it will cost you more and create more noise.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up an automatic vacuum cleaner and mop spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance.
