Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item upgrader mod by +3. A random substat is also added to each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrade upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, however, they are always cheaper than buying new gear. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They are purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool using the help of button, which will display an image of the item at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. Once an Best item upgrader is upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount applies to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a few options. They can use Flightstones which are a general upgrade currency available to everyone players, or crests, which are more specific and consumed during upgrades on specific levels of the item. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade items can require up to 20 crests, depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't too difficult, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their equipment to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
