They also have carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you are at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performance auto vacuum and mop and mop utilizes sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the rivals. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's more expensive and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the home based on how dirty these areas tend to be.

If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. Finally the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app also provides access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuum cleaner vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana.
