The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as a dirt detectors) are positives.

Check your robot hoover and mop's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Certain models also automatically empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice), they use smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to offer more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic cleaner and mop vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the boxy units of the rivals. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score 100% in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient, but it's more expensive and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the automatic vacuum cleaner and mop and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty those areas tend to be.

If you have a bigger home, it is worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you own a number of furniture. Finally, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
