It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and operates while you are at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score 100% in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite loud which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.
