The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detector) are a plus.

Make sure you regularly examine the brushes of your robot for hair tangled and large debris and wash them if needed. Some models will also empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you are at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's compact models this robot autonomous vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our evaluations. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit that could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable, but it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the degree of dirt they are.

If you own a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you own a lot furniture. Additionally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd imagine from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots that vacuum and mop we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that is less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
