Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

For instance an item with the upgrade template ending in % will suffer 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide an extra stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on devices that have slots. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before a component can be applied. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it is used on (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions of the item using the smallest amount of Upgrade Item crystals than they require to reach the same level using normal methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals per.

Each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of an item will be available at the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their equipment even in the event that they don't know how much it will be improved following the reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it is likely that the item will become obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that double or even eliminate the possibility of failure, as well as some upgrades that provide an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, which includes any existing affixes. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible up to 15 levels.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a stat by, and the value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

When you have the desired Glyphs You will have to put them on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus which will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs will boost all nodes that are connected to them, so it is recommended to place Glyphs in strategic places on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids, for example should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also want to consider placing them near their critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The system of upgrading items allows players to improve the effectiveness of certain items by placing upgraded components inside them. This is known as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level which determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each item level requires a different number of components to reach and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is leveled up.

Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used for leveling up an item upgrader. When enough points have been earned you will be able to claim your upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When the player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item upgrader mod is replaced by a new item of the same type. This means that the same armor piece will get the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own set of bonuses. This can be a downside in that the item could be more expensive even if you do not require it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do so. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a new one, with the level 1 base, and a totally different set of bonuses. This can be beneficial, but should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled several times, increasing their value and giving players the ability to alter their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides buffs when the player repeatedly enters or exits the water. This item can be upgraded several times and increases the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is extremely valuable in PvP as the best version of it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade the quality of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate currency and items to an NPC that upgrades items. The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. Hero grade items will have an incredibly lower cost for each additional upgrade.
