This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing to live some more volume and a little more cost it's a capable two-in-one that should delight most.
