It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and operates while you are at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competition. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work, or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it's more expensive and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
