It's still a great deal for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units this mop and robot automatic vacuum cleaner and mop is among the most attractive designs in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and look better. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it's more expensive and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and automatic vacuum cleaner. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot cleaner uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.

It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app also provides access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.
