However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots that we test, the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features which means it can be stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it can have difficulty in navigating through transitions between surfaces like hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes clearing out any clutter or toys it may come across. It's also an excellent idea to keep the bin and filter clear so they don't become clogged with dirt. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is depleted it goes back to its docking station, automatically empties its debris into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning the area where it began. The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin, which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and lowers recurring costs.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions, move itself around the room and vacuum an area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. Once connected we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and guide you through your home. It may get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its base.
