The i3+ doesn't have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we tested. It could be stuck on power cords and socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces, like rug and hardwood.

iRobot recommends that you tidy up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it might come across. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station and takes the dirt out of the docking station's external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes three hours to fully charge.

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it is equipped with the most recent features. The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot through the app or via voice.

In our testing the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our top choice, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though the dust bin is self-emptying which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed with the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. After being connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

The V10's main drawback is its short running time. As CR's tests show, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is a standard, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. That's still enough run time to vacuum the majority of a typical-sized home, but not quite long enough to get every single spot (though the second time around usually will suffice). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better on carpets with low pile.

It was able to pick up most types of debris in our testing and often went over the same area multiple times to give an extensive clean. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice addition.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home. It's not equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, including our top picks, i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. It can get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower recurring cost, has more advanced automation abilities and is able to better maneuver its own. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.

The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, because it has a better battery life, can change its suction power mode manually and comes with physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a larger motor, and performs better on low-pile and bare floors.

It's also more expensive than the other models that we tested, and this could be a deal breaker for some shoppers.
