While the iRobot Home app is very user-friendly however we've found it be less reliable than other applications that use robotic cleaners. It can take a long time to download updates, and often it's difficult to know whether the update actually working until you've seen it in the action.

2. Roborock Q5+

When you're looking for an automated vacuum cleaner that can do more than simply clean floors, the most effective option is likely to be hybrid. These robots come with a tank of water so they can vacuum and mop simultaneously. They also come with a variety of additional features, such as smart mapping, small obstacle avoidance, and the ability to wash and dry mopping pads. They're expensive at retail, but they often come down in price on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Roborock produces some of our favorite robotic vacuums, and the Q5+ doesn't perform to the standards. This is the cheapest model of their auto-empty line. Although it doesn't come with some of the luxurious features (like no-go zones or multi-story memories), it's still an excellent choice if you are willing to make some compromises to save a few bucks.

The Q5+ is remarkably soft when it comes to obstacles such as walls and table legs. This makes it an excellent choice for homes that have a lot of furniture. It's also extremely thorough in getting rid of dust bunnies which is a place where cheaper robot vacuums can really fail. The navigation technology in the Q5+ is superb and has very few missing in corners and on walls.

It's also unable to climb stairs like other models and doesn't come with a dock that can create a cleaning zone for plush carpets.

If you're looking to save money or aren't averse to the limitations of the robot, there are alternatives available. A lot of eufy models are considerably less. The Eufy Qrevo Curv, for instance, is cheaper and offers an identical experience on the app with more features like stairs, a fully-function dock, and a better overall performance when vacuuming floors and low and high-pile carpets.

4. Eufy RoboVac G30

eufy is an Anker company with a long history of creating robot vacuums that have the right combination of features, performance and price. The G30 Hybrid offers a powerful cleaning power for hard and carpeted flooring, and a mopping function at an affordable price. It's easy to set up, just snap on one of the side brush, turn it on and plug in your charging dock. The app takes you through a few steps to connect to your Wi-Fi. After that, the G30 is ready to go. You'll need to leave the dock close to an electrical outlet and ample space for it to move around, however.

The G30 is a small device that measures 2.85 inches in height, which means it is able to be tucked away under couches and low-clearance pieces of furniture. Its design is a little less flashy than some of the rival models, and features sleek black finish and three physical buttons such as Auto Cleaning start/pause, Recharge, and Spot Cleaning (which cleans the area in a spiral pattern for two minutes).
