Carbon fiber is naturally resistant to oxidation. It is therefore protected from corrosion. It has a lower coefficient than metal and is therefore less likely to change shape when exposed to heat. Its fatigue properties are also superior to those of metal, so components made from carbon fiber will last longer than their metal counterparts.
