1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO are both identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. That makes the i3+ a great option for those who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but don't mind taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin as it gets full.

Both robots are proficient in removing dirt and dust particles on floors and carpets and are able to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ isn't able to have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we test. It can be stuck on power cords and socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces, like carpet and hardwood.

iRobot recommends that you tidy the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it might come across. It's also an excellent idea to keep the bin and filter clean so they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use, and it takes about three hours to recharge.

The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin that removes a major source of maintenance and cuts down on recurring costs.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session and move around the room, and even vacuum a specific space. The iRobot best home vacuum cleaner App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected to these services, we were able use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with cordless vacs that look like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model is an old-fashioned sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide fade-free power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system captures allergens, and then releases fresh air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and collect large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adjusted to the specific task. It is able to quickly change from handheld to floor vacuum and vice versa.

This model also has docks that charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours and offers easy access to two attachments and a Wand clip. This is a major improvement over older Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its sluggish run time. Its marketing claims that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are not true, as CR's testing shows. This is a common, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's run time. It's enough time to vacuum the average-sized home however, it's not enough time to reach every area. That's not to say this model doesn't have its advantages: It's lighter and maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on carpets with low pile.

It was able to pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area multiple times for a thorough clean. Its flat front end helps it reach into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice touch.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. The app provides a range of customization options for your robotic cleaner. This includes virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings, and more. The app is easy to learn and use similar to other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). It was not as successful in avoiding taller items such as socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's priced higher than other models that we tested, and this could be a deterrent for certain shoppers.
