The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade items the item in the proper steps and pathways.

The use of these currencies isn't too complicated however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear that you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, that will be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
