It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you are at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud that could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.
