3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky units of the rivals. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map.
