It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum cleaner reviews we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an intuitive mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task.
