Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and operates while you are at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the competitors. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score a perfect 10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it's going to cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot automatic vacuum cleaner and mop and mop. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create a spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
