The i3+ isn't able to have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we test. It could be stuck on power cords or socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces like hardwood and rug.

iRobot suggests cleaning the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the bin and filter clear so they aren't clogged by dirt. We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines and move around the room and sweep an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After connecting we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating performance.

However, it isn't equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, such as our top picks, the i3+EVO and j7+ Series. It can get stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and often runs out of power before returning to its original location.
