The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors They are also adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and operates while you are at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. 3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum mop cleaner robot works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the degree of dirt they are.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one specific area of your home using the app or via voice commands.
