Upgrade materials can be collected by players as they provide clear content. They can then be used to upgrade or replace an item. Each item requires a particular kind of upgrade material. Weapons require Destruction stones while armor items require Guardian or Harmony Leapstones. When an item is upgraded, the materials are changed in their names. For instance, Stone Fragments becomes Stones and Harmony Shards becomes Life Shards.

It is important to upgrade items to improve a character's performance. However it is also crucial to think about how much this will cost. The cost of upgrading an item could be quite a bit of gold, which could have been better spent on new gear. This is why it's a good idea to upgrade the most essential items in a given situation.

This typically means that you first upgrade the weapon, then the chest and legs and finally the helm. Upgrade trinkets now if the player has the funds to do so. Players can also use an additional mechanic, Eliminate, to remove any level Up option they have on their equipment or weapons. Sets

A set is a collection of items which have some commonality. Sets are used every day, such as a dozen eggs or a group of friends. They are useful because they allow you to organize things, and also operations like union, intersection and distinction help you to manage them effectively. Sets can be used in a variety of different ways, from organizing music on a playlist, to assigning students grades.

In Nioh the game uses Sets to create special effects when players are wearing pieces from a specific armor set. These bonuses are known as Set Bonuses and are superior to Effects. While it's not explained in-universe why the armor sets must be worn together in order to create these additional effects, they can provide a nice change of pace when playing the game. The armor sets that have Set Bonuses can be found in various locations throughout Hyrule and include the Dark Moon and Twilight Temple.

Set Bonuses are associated with each piece of equipment within the Set. The tooltip on the bottom of the item will inform you which Set Bonuses are offered. Set Bonuses are presented in a box with a red border.

Certain Set Bonuses are exclusive to a specific piece equipment. If you purchase the entire Phantom Armor set, you will get +8 defense (instead of the +3 defense that you receive with the majority of gear). Some sets are only available by completing certain tasks or by purchasing them at the Auction House.

It is possible to get Set Bonuses for several items of equipment simultaneously. If you own the complete Kestra's Descent Set and the matching parts of Twinblade of Shadow, you will receive the version with the + set's bonus if you soul be able to match them.

In contrast to Effects which change every when you upgrade them, Set Bonuses stay the same even when the pieces of equipment they are connected to increase in. However, if an item upgrader kit is exemplared to levels that are not enough, the set bonus will stop working.

Set bonuses

Set bonuses are special effects that can be found on a gear set which can provide a boost in combat. They grant a specific amount of a particular kind of stat, such as damage to weapons, defenses or resistances. They don't stack however, only one of them will work at any time. The amount of a certain stat is determined by how many pieces of the set are used which means you could have three chests and one armour and four weapons for instance, but only the one that has the most bonus will benefit you.

Defence bonuses increase three defenses for each position and two defense types such as, for instance the full five-piece set of Hundings Rage will add up to a total of around 400 defenses in your equipment.
