They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

Still, it's very good robot vacuum for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or going to school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best automatic vacuum cleaner robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competitors. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it's more expensive and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app also grants access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
