1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is an excellent option for those looking for a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dustbin of the robot once it gets full.

Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors and they're very adept at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test. It can get stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces like rug and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it may encounter. It's also recommended to keep the bin and filter clean so they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or its battery is empty it will return to its docking station, automatically emptying its dirt into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning the area where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and takes around three hours to fully recharge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest technology. It's self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is its self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that lets it create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot with voice or through the app.

In our testing the i7+ performed faster and more maneuverable than our Top Rated Robot Vacuum choice which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin, which eliminates a major source of maintenance and cuts down on the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to start or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. After connecting, we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The V10's main drawback is its short running time. As CR's tests show, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is a typical, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. This is enough time to sweep the average-sized home however, it's not enough time to get into every corner. (A second pass is usually sufficient). However, this model doesn't have its benefits: It's lighter and maneuverable than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming efficiency is superior on carpets with a low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in the latest model of robot. It was able to pick up the majority of types of debris in our tests and would often go over the same area multiple times to ensure an efficient clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach corners and edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models like our top choices and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It can get stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and will often run out of power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694, as it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is better able to move itself. It also has a larger dustbin and can charge faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most purposes, as it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter its suction power mode on its own and has physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and can perform better on floors with bare or low-pile.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86 percent of it.
