Both robots do well cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they are very good in getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ and other top rated robot Vacuum-rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can get stuck on things such as socks or power cords, and it may have trouble navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes putting away any clutter or toys it might encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the bin and filter clear so they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station and emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. The i7+ is quicker and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin which removes major maintenance sources and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines and move around the room and sweep an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. We were able, once connected, to speak commands to the i7+ such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car that is amidst a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in most households however, it can also fit in well next to the table for a coffee or shelves where you can move it around like an enchanted device.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide power that is not fading for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases fresh air into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpets to trap large dust and crumbs. It has three different suction modes that can be adjusted to the task. The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. Its claims on the market that it can last up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is a common, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capability of more sophisticated models such as our top selections and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. As a result, it may get stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it often is power-depleted before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, incurs lower recurring cost and has more advanced automation capabilities and is able to better maneuver itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). However, it did not do particularly well at avoiding larger objects, like cords and socks, which was disappointing. The app allows you to manually steer the best robot vacuum for large house, if necessary. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that tends to trip up some of the other robots I've tried. However the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border, without registering it as a cliff. Also, the ability to program the weekly cleaning schedule is a wonderful time-saving benefit.
