It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and operates while you're at work or in school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. And, if you need to change the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and a little more cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
